In July, Montreal buzzed with innovation as it hosted the Free Electrons 2024 Master Module. The event brought together top startups and leading utilities to shape the future of energy. Check our sneak peek of what participants got to experience during the Master Module.
Day 1: Setup and Synergies
There is always excitement and anticipation when startups and utilities get together. The day started with an inspiring panel session on the Past, Present & Future of Energy, hosted by Hydro Québec. Participants then dove into one-on-one meetings to deepen their collaborations and progress pilot projects. There was still time to visit a Hydro Québec Experimental Line.
Day 2: Powering up!
Day two was a hive of activity. After a panel session about the Canadian Innovation Ecosystem, the day was packed with one-on-one meetings, allowing for in-depth discussions and personalized feedback. The cherry on the top was the much-anticipated networking event at the Old Port Glass Tower, where conversations continued over a movie-like backdrop.
Day 3: Pitch Perfect
On the last day, we saw startups stepping into the spotlight to pitch their pilot developments. This intense yet exciting moment allowed startups to showcase their solutions and receive direct feedback. To unwind, what better way than traveling to the Beauharnois Power Plant, experiencing firsthand one of the largest hydroelectric power stations in Quebec. This busy week ended with forward-looking sessions, outlining the path to Free Electrons Grand Finale.
Looking Ahead
Free Electrons Master Module has achieved its goal: deepen collaborations and advance pilot projects that can help accelerate the energy transition. Startups left with valuable insights and connections, while utilities were inspired by the innovative ideas presented. The journey continues as these pioneering solutions move closer to redefining how we experience and manage energy.
We look forward to the Grand Finale to see the innovations developed with this incredible cohort of startups. Stay tuned for more updates!
